The 2020 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru is a blend deriving from Languettes, Hautes Mourottes and Le Corton. Unfurling in the glass with aromas of citrus zest, pear and freshly baked bread, it's medium to full-bodied, layered and complete, with a satiny attack and good mid-palate depth.

The 2019 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru is promising, mingling aromas of pear and ripe citrus fruits with hints of smoke and iodine. Medium to full-bodied, layered and muscular, it remains bright and lively, concluding with a long, saline finish.

From vines in Languettes and Hautes Mourottes, Roulot's 2018 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru reveals aromas of citrus zest, green apple, white flowers and crushed chalk. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and incisive, it's racy and tensile, with a fine-boned core of fruit and a mineral finish.

The 2014 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru, sourced from the Ladoix side, has a stony, stoic nose that is very precise and offers traces of the sea. The palate is very well balanced with crisp acidity, quite tight and perhaps needing to borrow some of the Folatières oiliness on the finish. As I opined to Jean-Marc, I feel that it needs more substance, especially on the attenuated finish. Four barrels produced.

The 2022 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru is the last year Roulot will produce this bottling. Exhibiting aromas of orange oil and pear mingled with toasted nuts, iodine and white flowers, it's medium to full-bodied, satiny and layered, with good concentration and a long, saline finish.
