Critic ratings

vinous 2010

Rating: 96 –96

The 2010 Bienvenue-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru was generously opened at the domaine. A limpid golden color, it has an exquisitely defined bouquet of honeysuckle, orange blossom and crushed limestone that gains intensity with aeration; wonderful focus here. The palate is beautifully balanced and harmonious, with unerring precision and focus, offering discreet hazelnut and saline notes. This is pure class, a Bienvenue just beginning to show what it can do with 20 or 30 years of aging ahead of it. Wonderful length, wonderful wine.

vinous 2019

Rating: 94 –96

The 2019 Bienvenue-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru comes from the six rows owned by the Domaine that yielded one used 456-litre barrel. I had to shake off a bit of reduction on the nose, unfolding to reveal entrancing lemon thyme, peach skin and crushed rock aromas. The palate is very smooth on the entry, intense and voluminous in the mouth. Slightly creamy in texture it offers notes of almond, hazelnut and a touch of stem ginger towards the finish as it fans out as a Grand Cru is duty-bound to do. Superb.
