The 2017 Chassagne-Montrachet La Concis de Champs, which Olivier Lamy tells me is the first to be picked, has a crisp, pure Granny Smith apple scented nose with a touch of spring meadow. The palate is very tensile, quite steely, beautifully focused and pure with great mineralité on the finish. This is the best wine that I have tasted from this vineyard.

(from a single parcel of vines with an average age of ten years, planted at a density of 14,000 per acre): Reduced aromas of musky pear and smoke. On the palate, peach and smoke flavors are carried by insinuating lively acidity. Offers good density and energy for village wine.

The 2018 Chassagne-Montrachet La Concis de Champs had wild variations in potential alcohol and acidity levels, caused by differing rootstocks, vine ages, pruning techniques, etc., that made it difficult for Olivier Lamy to pick. This has a bright red apple and lime bouquet that feels well defined. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity and very pure. A lovely touch of bitter lemon enlivens and lends edge on the finish. Excellent.

The 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet La Concis de Champs has an expressive bouquet with orange blossom and mandarin notes, touches of peppermint emerging with time. The palate is well balanced with Granny Smith and a touch of peach skin, gently building towards the finish in possession of Premier Cru intensity. Excellent.

The 2018 Chassagne-Montrachet Le Concis du Champs wafts from the glass with notes of orange oil, pear, clear honey and white flowers. Medium to full-bodied, racy and incisive, with a bright spine cloaked in fragrant fruit, this is very promising. Lamy notes that some barrels composing this cuvée fermented rapidly whereas others took 12 months to finish their sugars.

The 2015 Chassagne-Montrachet le Concis du Champs, which Olivier Lamy reminded me is always the first to be harvested, has a lovely pear and light gooseberry-scented bouquet, a touch of mint developing with time. The palate is crisp and lively with a fine line of acidity, harmonious and graceful with a very poised and charming finish. What a lovely wine to drink over the next 5-6 years.

Aromas of lime zest, mandarin orange, honey and white flowers introduce the 2017 Chassagne-Montrachet Le Concis du Champs, a satiny, medium-bodied wine with tangy acids, a layered mid-palate and a bright, pure finish.

The 2013 Chassagne-Montrachet le Concis du Champs was the first vineyard to be picked by Olivier Lamy this year. It has a light lime flower and Granny Smith apple bouquet that remains laconic despite aeration. The palate is fresh and taut with very well-judged acidity, very pure and Puligny-like, with impressive minerality on the finish. This is a very well-crafted Chassagne.
