The 2012 Macon-Uchizy comes from 35-year-old vines and sees no oak contact. It has a lifted but light bouquet of green apple and lime that is rather conservative and is missing some breeding. The palate is a little smudged on the entry, although there is plenty of spicy fruit to be enjoyed: apricot and nectarine with hints of honey and vanilla on the aftertaste. Fine. The Talmard family can trace their roots in the region back to the 17th century. The estate has been run from the village of Uchizy by Mallory and Benjamin Talmard since 1997. There are approximately 30 hectares under vine, of which 14 hectares are in Uchizy. Importer: Grape Expectations, Raleigh, NC; tel. (919) 781-1655 and Justerini & Brooks (UK)
