The 2017 Chardonnay Silver Eagle Vineyard comes from Wente clone vines that are now 12 years old. The nose begins with toast, gunflint and charcuterie before opening out to honeycomb and hay accented by citrus peel and saline. The medium-bodied palate is power delivered in a featherweight package, concentrated but silky and fresh and finishing layered.

The 2018 Chardonnay Silver Eagle Vineyard is pure, compelling and dynamic this vintage, and it takes some time for its delicate lemon and tangerine fruit to appear, accented by iodine and citrus blossoms. The palate surprises with its expansive, layered character, featuring candied citrus fruits laced with saline and almond, and finishing with anchoring texture and tremendous length.

The 2020 Chardonnay Silver Eagle Vineyard, matured for 12 months in 33% new oak and six months in stainless steel, is generous and electric despite the challenges of the vintage. It has inviting aromas of Meyer lemon, toast, lime panna cotta and crème brûlée with accents of citrus blossoms. Silky and ethereal, with focused acidity that drives wave after wave of perfumed fruit, the palate offers impressive concentration for its light weight and a tremendously long finish.

The 2019 Chardonnay Silver Eagle Vineyard is elegant and shimmery. Saline, flint and iodine open to aromas of baked apples, quince and lemon peel on the nose. The light-bodied palate is tangy with expansive flavors that segue from ripe citrus to meringue and honeyed tones, and it finishes with fantastic length and layered flavors. Its energy and dynamic character point to a long life ahead in the cellar.
