Rating: 93 –93

The 2021 Block 6 Chardonnay is tropical and exotic on the nose, and this paves the way for a slippery-feeling, wide and powerful palate. There’s plenty of yellow peach and star anise through the finish, with a core of stewed apple and apricot Danish. It’s definitely the Chardonnay with the loudest voice and the most intense flavors; the acidity here sits nicely within the space and feels quite balanced. In 2022, I preferred Block 1 over this, and this year, I prefer this wine. Seasonal variation makes for engaging and exciting drinking. 14% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.

The 2022 Block 6 Chardonnay is powerful and throaty—all back palate and weighty with ripe yellow stone fruit. This is a spicy, full wine with layers of juicy acidity and fleshy fruit. The mineral detail through the finish balances the pure fruit core. 14% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.

From a north-facing slope, the 2016 Block 6 Chardonnay delivers classic Chardonnay aromas of white peaches and gently toasted hazelnuts. It's medium-bodied, with a plump, succulent mouthfeel and a crisp backbone of citrusy acids. Complex shades of baking spices accent the nearly endless lemony finish. A modern-day classic.

Tasted alongside the Block 2, this 2023 Block 6 Chardonnay feels far more cohesive and resolved. Still tropical, and with viscose-like weight in the mouth, the wine evokes words like "exotic," "opulent" and "sophisticated." The wine is nutty and salty and full of flavor, the acidity tucked into the layers of fruit in the mouth. Very good. 14% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.
