The 2020 Chablis Vau de Vey 1er Cru has good intensity on the nose, although it is not the most complex or mineral-driven. The palate is nicely balanced with mandarin and dried honey, fine weight although it needs to show a little more vigour on the slight backward finish. Give this a year in bottle. Tasted blind at the BIVB tasting in Chablis.

The 2020 Chablis Vau de Vey 1er Cru has a light, steely nose that is very zen-like, with crustacean aromas emerging with time. The palate is better, offering sour lemon and orange peel on the entry and fine acidity that lends satisfying tension. It’s just the aromatics that let down this Premier Cru, so give it a couple of years in bottle to see if they develop.
