Rating: 89 –91
The 2017 Montagny 1er Cru Les Coères is very attractive, wafting from the glass with notes of green apple, citrus oil, Anjou pear, beeswax and hints of nutmeg. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, satiny and pure with an attractive core of succulent fruit and a mouthwatering finish. This charming wine exemplifies the alliance of quality and value that is possible in Montagny.
Rating: 88 –90
The 2015 Montagny 1er Cru les Coeres has a very attractive bouquet with resinous, waxy aromas emerging from the glass. The palate is bright and vivid with fresh apple and pear, the 10% new oak showing more than the percentage would suggest, but that will be subsumed because there is good body and concentration on the finish. Worth checking out once in bottle.
Rating: 83 –83
The 2013 Montagny 1er Cru Les Coeres has a clean, conservative lemon peel and fresh pear-scented bouquet. The palate is medium-bodied with simple, waxy citrus fruit but it is missing delineation and complexity on the finish.
Rating: 87 –89
The 2017 Montagne Les Coeres, which has spent a year in used barrel, has a pretty white peach and apricot blossom scented bouquet. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, quite minerally and citrus driven with an almost Chablis-like finish. Recommended.
