Rating: 88 –90

The 2015 Meursault 1er Cru Charmes demanded more coaxing on the nose compared to the immediately expressive Bourgogne Terroir d'Exception that I tasted right before. Eventually it reveals scents of chalk and cooking apples, although I would have liked more intensity. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity on the entry, fine tension and decent weight towards the lemongrass-tinged finish that just cuts away a tad swiftly.

The 2014 Meursault 1er Cru Charmes comes from four of the six parcels located in the premier cru. It has a light citrus and limestone-scented nose that needs to show a bit more...conviction. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity, touches of orange rind and mineral, nicely weighted on the finish that makes up for the aromatics that need to muster more intensity.
