The NV Sainte Anne Brut – a blend of 65% Pinot Noir and 35% Chardonnay, so no Meunier anymore – is entirely sourced in Merfy, the village where the domaine is based. This youngest release includes the 2013 harvest (65%) and has been blended with 2012, 2011 and 2010. Pure, lean and complex on the palate, this is a very elegant, straight and pretty firmly structured cuvée that finishes with a lingering salinity and tension. Very well structured, with good length. At this price, it is a Must Try.

The NV Brut Cuvée Ste.-Anne (base 2019) is deep, rich and quite luscious. Dried pear, crushed flowers, chamomile and savory herbs are nicely woven together. The Cuvée Ste.-Anne is often one of the finest wines in Champagne in its peer group, but this release, while quite deep, is also marked by elevated volatile acidity. This is the first year made entirely in barrel, and there is probably a bit of fine tuning required. Dosage is 5 grams per liter. Disgorged: June, 2022.

The NV Brut Cuvée Ste.-Anne is one of the great values in Champagne. Broad and creamy, with high-toned aromatics, the Cuvée Ste.-Anne is a total pleasure bomb. The intensity of the flavors is so beautifully dialed up. Orchard fruit, dried flowers and spice all flesh out effortlessly. More than anything, though, I admire the wine"s balance and raciness. This release is based on 2018. Dosage is 5 grams per liter. Disgorged: March, 2021.

The NV Brut Cuvée Ste.-Anne is one of the best Champagnes readers will find in its price range, or any price range, for that matter. Bright and beautifully focused, the Ste.-Anne has so much to offer. The purity of the flavors is just remarkable. If anything, it needs more time on the cork to soften, as it is quite reticent at this stage. This release is based on 2017, with reserve wines from 2016 and 2015. The blend is 40% Pinot Noir, 40% Chardonnay and 20% Meunier, with the Chardonnay very much in evidence at this stage. Dosage is 5.15 grams/liter. Disgorged: February, 2020.

The NV Brut Cuvée Ste.-Anne is an absolutely stunning Champagne for its complexity, value and soulfulness. Rich and creamy on the palate, with tons of resonance, the Cuvée Ste.-Anne is absolutely impeccable. Dried orchard fruit, spice, pastry, baked apple tart and lemon confit all infuse the Cuvée Ste.-Anne with striking complexity and depth. I can't think of too many Champagnes that deliver this level of quality for the money. Not surprisingly, I have seen it offered by the glass in a number of top restaurants around the world. Alexandre Chartogne does a fabulous job with this cuvée. Don't miss it. Disgorged: July 26, 2017.

The NV Brut Sainte Anne is a gorgeous wine, as it so often is. Pliant and inviting, with superb textural richness, the Sainte Anne shows Alexandre Chartogne's style off to great effect. Dried pear, chamomile, mint mad dried flowers are some of the many notes that run through this super-expressive Champagne. This release is a 50/50 blend of 2015 and reserve wines, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, also in equal measure. Disgorged: December 2017.

Alexandre Chartogne's NV Brut Sainte Anne (based on the 2014 vintage) is brilliant. Pear, apple, spice, chamomile and lightly honeyed notes all develop. Above all else, though, it is the wine's textural feel and total finesse that carry the day. The flavors are bright, precise and nuanced in this vivid, introductory level Champagne from Alexandre Chartogne. Don't miss it. Disgorged: February 2016. Dosage is 6.5 grams per Liter.

The NV Brut Cuvée St. Anne bristles with considerable energy for the year. It shows lovely balance in a fairly approachable style best suited to near-term drinking. The St. Anne is 60% Chardonnay and 40% Pinot Noir, based on the 2007 vintage with 20% reserve wines from 2006 and 2005. In 2007 Chartogne was not happy with his Meunier, so it was left out of the blend. Dosage is 4.5 grams per liter. Disgorged June 2011.

The NV Brut Cuvée Sainte-Anne is a wonderfully rich, creamy wine that seems to be dominated by the significant presence of red grapes and a warm 2005 base vintage. There is lovely richness and density to be found in the glass, but with air the wine's chalky minerality emerges to add complexity and length. The Sainte-Anne is equal parts Chardonnay and Pinot Noir with a dash of Meunier, 80% 2005 juice with the addition of 10% each 2001 and 2002. Disgorged June, 2009.

(60% chardonnay and 40% pinot noir; 60% from 2010 and the rest from 2009 and 2008; disgorged in June of 2013 after three years on its lees): Light gold. Lively scents of nectarine, orange zest and green apple, with a bright mineral overtone. Racy, focused and pure, offering fresh citrus and orchard fruit flavors and hints of smoky minerals and ginger. Picks up a floral nuance on the finish, which lingers with stony tenacity.

(47% pinot noir, 39% chardonnay and 14% pinot meunier, mostly 2008 with 27% 2007 wines; disgorged July, 2012): Light yellow-gold. Ripe melon and pear aromas are given depth by suggestions of dried fig, redcurrant and pungent flowers. Chewy orchard fruit flavors show good concentration and spicy character, with a hint of licorice emerging with air. The broad, clinging finish leaves lasting notes of sappy pear and chamomile. I like this Champagne's blend of richness and energy.

(disgorged in May 2005) Light gold color. Fresh aromas of orange blossom, acacia and honeysuckle, with a suggestion of grilled nuts. Round and supple, with deep, almost sweet flavors of mango, apricot and yellow plum. Frothy and suave, with ripe orchard fruit flavors and notes of pear and apple. The delicate, almost weightless finish is subtle, fine and long.

Apple, toffee and maple syrup on the nose. A creamy, smooth midweight, with fresh fruit flavors of apple and ripe pear as well as more mature suggestions of burnt sugar and caramelized apple tart. Finishes with an edge of acidity and slightly drying hints of nuts and toffee.

Slightly disjointed aromas of green apple, toffee and warm nut bread. Then firm and intensely flavored, with ripe flavors of apple, lemon and toast. Not hugely complex but shows excellent fruit. Offers very good extract and underlying structure. Finishes firm and persistent.

Lemon, toast, toffee, brown butter and baking spices on the nose. Smooth but juicy, with concentrated flavors of apple, pear, toast and minerals. Strong acids are nicely buffered by the wine's chewy extract. The wine's younger and older components are in harmony. Full ripeness gives this a tangy sugar/acid balance. Finishes snappy and long, with impressive flavor intensity.
