Critic ratings

vinous NV

Rating: 90 –90

The NV Rosé Réserve is an attractive, aperitif-styled Rosé to drink now and over the next handful of years, while the flavors remain bright. This release is based on 2012. Now with two years on the cork, the Rosé Réserve offers lovely complexity in its slightly burnished dried cherry, crushed flower and spice nuances. Disgorged in 2017.

(one-third each Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier; 11 g/l dosage; L130297 3835): Light, bright orange. Intensely perfumed scents of raspberry, orange zest, white flowers and chalky minerals.  Juicy and precise in the mouth, offering vibrant red berry and blood orange flavors and a complicating hint of brioche.  The floral quality comes back strong on the very long, incisive finish, which features a subtle anise quality and smoky minerality. About 20% of the Pinot Noir here was in the form of still red wine.

(one-third each pinot noir, pinot meunier and chardonnay; L132904 3775): Bright orange-pink. Smoky red berry aromas, with exotic suggestions of white flowers, buttered toast and orange zest. Ripe raspberry and tangerine flavors possess very good depth and gentle sweetness, with a zesty mineral nuance adding lift and cut. Fresh red fruit notes dominate the juicy finish, which leaves a toasty, leesy note behind.

(made from equal parts of chardonnay, pinot noir and pinot meunier; L122532 3670): Orange-pink. Potent, smoke-accented aromas of raspberry, cherry, anise and iodine. Rich and energetic, offering intense red fruit and bitter orange flavors and notes of buttered toast and rose pastille. Closes with very good breadth and outstanding length, leaving a gentle spicy note behind.

Vivid pink, with a hint of orange. Complex scents of candied orange, poached pear, star anise and dried rose, with a leesy quality that gains power with air. Rich, palate-staining red berry flavors are lifted by tangy acidity and a note of white pepper. The leesy note comes back on the finish, which clings with serious tenacity and repeats the spicy note.
