The 2017 Blanc has a nose of guava, spiced apples and nectarines with pie crust and chopped herbs. The palate is medium-bodied, clean, fresh and elegant with a racy finish.

The Brown 2017 Blanc is a little closed, with lemon juice and fresh pears notes plus coriander seed and white pepper. The palate is medium-bodied, elegant and very mineral in the mouth, with a racy backbone and nice length.

The 2016 Brown Blanc has an uncomplicated bouquet with lime, green apple and light beeswax aromas, although like many dry white Bordeaux this year, it calls out for more freshness and precision. The palate is actually better than the aromatics with bitter lemon, touches of guava and pineapple. This is richer than the 2015, but the lower acidity means that it will be best consumed in the first four or five years.

The 2015 Blanc from Brown has a slightly more exotic bouquet with apricot and orange blossom flourishing from the glass, perhaps a little more obvious than its peers but very attractive. The palate is fresh and vibrant on the entry: crisp acidity, quite tensile with a patina of creamy oak toward the finish. It is just a delicious white Pessac-Léognan to enjoy over several years.

The Château Brown Blanc 2014 has an attractive lime cordial and gooseberry-scented bouquet that is very well defined, peachy notes emerging with aeration. The palate is crisp and fresh, that lime cordial note continuing with well-judged acidity and a vibrant finish. This is a Brown Blanc with breeding and it should be delicious straight from the off, once bottled.

Tasted from a barrel sample at en primeur. The Chateau Brown Blanc has a nicely composed bouquet with light apricot and peach scents that emerge with aeration. The palate is quite light on the entry with dried lemon peel and orange zest, but it does not quite follow through on the mid-palate that needs to show more expression and vigour post-bottling. Hopefully it will “fatten out” during maturation. Tasted April 2013.

A nice, straightforward, chunky white Graves made from 66% Sauvignon and 34% Semillon, this wine shows plenty of caramelized citrus as well as touches of tangerine, fig and grapefruit. Medium-bodied, dry, fresh and quite lovely, it should be drunk over the next 4-7 years.

Also great values, no tasting note given.

A blend of 70% Sauvignon Blanc and 30% Semillon, the 2011 Brown Blanc has an attractive grapefruit and passion fruit scented nose that bodes well for the future. The palate is ripe and generous on the entry with a slight waxiness imparted by the Semillon. It is missing a little tension towards the finish, but I appreciated the weight and purity. Tasted April 2011.

The 2015 Brown Blanc has a lively, showy bouquet with lime cordial and freshly squeezed grapefruit scents that are neatly entwined with the new oak. The palate is fresh and crisp on the entry, tropical tones of nectarine, Clementine and peach rending this almost drinkable now. It is well balanced and displays fine length, a white Pessac that should give great pleasure over the next 12-15 years.

The 2014 Brown Blanc seemed to have lost a little of its nascent complexity and mineralité on the nose: pleasant but missing grape varietal expression compared to its showing from barrel. The palate is better with citrus peel and white peach on the entry, a fine bead of acidity and an attractive, subtle spiciness conferred upon the finish. Drink this over the next five or six years.

The Brown 2016 Blanc sings of lime blossoms, freshly squeezed lemons and quince paste plus wafts of peaches and baking bread. Medium-bodied, the palate is wonderfully invigorating with loads of citrus and exotic fruit layers and a racy finish.

The Brown 2018 Blanc has an open-knit, expressive nose of lemon tart, key lime pie and warm grapefruit plus hints of crushed stones and mandarin peel. Medium to full-bodied, the palate delivers great intensity with layers of citrus and mineral notions and a long, lively finish.

Citrus, fig, green bean, and smoky scents jump from the glass of this medium-bodied, nicely-textured, ripe, concentrated dry white Graves made from 67% Sauvignon Blanc and 33% Semillon. It should drink well for 7-8 years.
