The 2014 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Vide Bourse has a racy and lively bouquet with leesy, citrus fruit that contains plenty of energy. The palate is fresh and vibrant with a crisp line of acidity -- orange zest and a touch of toffee apple, the wood a little evident on the finish but you cannot help being impressed by the powerful finish. It demands attention...and it deserves it.

The 2015 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Vide Bourse has a rich, quite honeyed bouquet that needs to forage more delineation and precision. It is pleasant but does not quite evoke the vineyard or its terroir. The palate is smooth and slightly waxy in texture on the entry. There is clearly good fruit concentration here, weighty in the mouth and with a pleasant salinity, though it does not deliver the same precision as the 2014 last year. Drink over the next 4-6 years.
