Critic ratings

vinous 2017

Rating: 90 –90

The 2017 Chablis Les Vaudésirs Grand Cru is soft and creamy in feel. Hazelnut, pineapple, dried flowers, orange peel and tropical overtones give the Vaudésirs its distinctly flamboyant personality. Here, too, the oak is a bit much.

vinous 2017

Rating: 91 –91

Slightly darker in color than its peers, the 2017 Chablis Les Vaudésir Grand Cru has an expressive bouquet with a fair smack of oak that partly clouds the terroir and renders this a little generic. Returning after 10 minutes, there are some sulfur issues here. The palate is well-balanced, however, with enticing nectarine and clementine notes, good depth and a supple, almost caressing finish. Very tempting, but it needs to grow into something more interesting, more Grand Cru-ish. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting in Savigny-lès-Beaune.

vinous 2019

Rating: 92 –92

The 2019 Chablis Vaudésir Grand Cru is rather closed and backward, yet it feels well-defined and focused. It just needs time to fully open. The palate is well balanced with a waxy-textured entry, fine depth and the spiciness associated with Les Preuses. Very good length. I think this has lots of potential, but it needs cellaring.
