Pure and complete, Morey's 2022 Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières unwinds in the glass with notes of pear, lime zest, white flowers, wet stones, vanilla pod, freshly baked bread and struck match. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and incisive, it's taut and chiseled, with a concentrated core of fruit and a long, mineral finish.
About the Producer
Château Pierre-Mauret is a Meursault-based wine producer producing a range of wines in the wider Côte de Beaune sub-region of Burgundy. The estate has some 11 hectares (27 acres) of vineyards in the villages of Monthelie, Pommard, Puligny-Montrachet and Meursault. The eponymous founders also established the Morey-Blanc négociant label, making wines from fruit obtained from other growers. The only Grand Cru at Château Pierre-Mauret comes from 0.5 hectares (1.2 acres) of Chardonnay vines in the Bata Montrachet Grand Cru vineyard. The winery also has holdings in various Grand Cru vineyards, including Meursault Perrier (Chardonnay), Pommard Les Grands Epenots (Pinot Noir) and Volnay Santenots. All the grapes are hand-picked and fermented with natural yeasts. The estate's white wines ripen from 12 to 20 months and the reds from around 15 to 20 months. Since 1992, Château Pierre Moray has been operating a distributor company called Moray Brown. Under this label, it produces a range of Grand Cru, Premier Cru and Cru Bourgeois wines, which are purchased from winegrowers in the Corton, Saint-Aubin and Meursault appellations.
