About the Producer
Located in the Cote des Blancs sub-appellation of the Champagne appellation, Pierre Moncuit is one of the best-known wineries in the region. The estate was founded in 1977 and is owned by the Moncuit family. It is now managed and run mainly by the Moncourt siblings. Nicole Moncuit, who is passionate about winegrowing and winemaking, is in charge of the technical aspects of the winery and her expertise ensures that the champagnes produced are unique in flavour and quality. Her brother, Yves Moncuit, is responsible for sales. Château Moncuit has 20 hectares of vineyards, 15 of which are classified as Grand Cru. During the harvest season, only fully ripe grapes are harvested, using the strictest selection system. The cellars are equipped with the most advanced winemaking equipment in the world, and the winery takes care of every step of the winemaking process, from the harvesting of the grapes to the bottling of the wine. Only grapes harvested in the best vintages are used to produce the vintage Champagnes of Château Moncourt, which express the terroir of the vineyards. The current vintage has been aged for as little as 5 years and as long as 10 years. Château de Moncourt's champagnes have won several awards at various world wine competitions, such as the Gold Medal at the 2004 Contest Vignerons Independants, the Silver Medal at the 2005 Contest Feminalise and the Gold Medal at the Contest Grands Vins De France. Currently, the estate has released the Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Brut, Grand Cru Cuvee Brut Rose, Grand Cru Cuvee Pierre Moncuit-Delos Reserve Brut, Cuvee Nicole Moncuit Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru Millesime Brut, etc. are popular among consumers.
