Tasting notes

Reviewed by: Lisa Perrotti-Brown
The 2020 Picque-Caillou Blanc rocks up with notes of fresh pears, Golden Delicious apples and lemongrass, with hints of white pepper and fennel seed. The medium-bodied palate has compelling purity with a racy line and plenty of spiciness on the finish.
About the Producer
Picque Caillou is a famous winery in the Bordeaux region of France, located in the village of Margo in the Medoc region. The winery dates back to the 17th century and is now managed by Catherine and Didier Miqueu. Picque Caillou wines are made from one of the most famous grape varieties of the Medoc region - Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The grapes are sourced from the winery's own vineyards, carefully selected and hand-picked. During the winemaking process, the grapes are gently pressed and fermented, and then aged in oak barrels for more than 12 months. The wines of Picque Caillou show a deep red color with intense aromas of black fruit, oak and spices. The palate is full-bodied with rich tannins, moderate acidity and a long finish. This is a wine suitable for aging and can be stored for more than 10 years. In addition to Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, Picque Caillou also produces wines from other grape varieties, such as Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc. These wines also have the characteristics and flavors of Bordeaux region wines.
