About the Producer
Philippe Colin is a loyal fan of terroir in Chassagne-Montrachet and produces 20 to 25 different wines each year. The total area of Philippe Colin's vineyards is 13 hectares, with two-thirds being white and one-third being red. The focus is on Chassagne-Montrachet, but there are also wines from neighboring villages such as Puligny-Montrachet, Saint-Aubin, and Santenay. Domaine Philippe Colin represents approximately 50% of the former Domaine Colin-Deléger. When their parents decided to retire, Philippe and his brother Bruno chose to split the estate in half. The last vintage produced together was in 2003. Domaine Colin-Deléger covered 18 hectares, and nine hectares were given to Philippe Colin's estate, which has since increased by four hectares. Up to 20% to 25% of new oak can be found in the cellar. Philippe Colin has been using a lot of large barrels since 2010. The integration of the wood is better with barrels of 450 or 500 liters. They use a 50/50 mix of large barrels and traditional 228-liter barrels, with the number of new oak trees used remaining the same.
