The 2020 Petit Bocq has a medium to deep garnet-purple color and fruity scents of crushed blackberries, black raspberries and cassis, with an undercurrent of dried mint, cloves and pencil lead. The medium-bodied palate is elegantly styled and refreshing, featuring crunchy black fruits and a soft texture, finishing with a minty lift.

The 2020 Petit Bocq has a fresh and delineated bouquet with blackberry, bilberry and cedar scents that blossom in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, quite structured with good density, sappy with a well-defined, graphite-tinged finish. This lingers long in the mouth, a superb Petit Bocq that is one of the best recent vintages that I have tasted.
About the Producer
The owner of Château Petit Bocq, Francis Souquet, is an experienced winemaker and connoisseur of the terroir of the Médoc region. He was the vineyard manager at Château Ducru Beaucaillou, which is classified as a 2ème Grand Cru Classé in Saint-Julien. In August 1993, it was acquired by Dr. Gaetan Lagneaux, a great wine enthusiast since his teenage years, who had previously been a collaborator with the Marquis d'Estournel Estate. This is how Petit Bocq's estate managed to grow from 1.30 hectares of vines in 1993 to 19.41 hectares today. In 2003, Château Petit Bocq was included in the Cru Bourgeois Supérieur ranking. Its brand was redesigned, and this was the first time the iconic ladybug appeared. The 2003 ranking was canceled by a court ruling due to formal complaints from some excluded winemakers, but the Cru Bourgeois classification was reintroduced in 2009.
