Reviewed by: James Suckling

A steely edge to the pithy grapefruit and lemon aromas with stony and slightly flinty nuances. The palate has a very precise and fresh, taut feel. Great, succulent fruit with driving acidity. A lot of pleasure here. Super minerally. Drink or hold.

About the Producer

It was Fernand Morey (father of Marc) who, upon his return from the First World War in 1919, started the Domaine Morey et Fils. At that time, he took over his father's 2 hectares and settled in a part of the current premises: an old coaching inn. He was a visionary because, as early as the 1930s, he bottled his wines and expanded the property. In 1944, his son Marc joined him, and the estate was renamed Domaine Fernand Morey et Fils. In 1946, they built the current barrel cellar together. Fernand passed away in 1964, but Marc continued to develop the estate with his wife Madeleine, and in 1972 they built a large building on three floors: two vaulted cellars, a labeling room, offices, and a dining room for the pickers. In 1977, Marc installed his daughter Marie-Josèphe and son-in-law Bernard Mollard on the estate. The estate was then renamed Domaine Marc Morey et Fils, and together they made the estate prosper and positioned it on international markets. In 1981, Marc and Madeleine retired while remaining very attached to their estate. In 1997, Bernard created a small trading company: SARL Domaine Marc Morey, which buys grape musts and ages its wines in an independent cellar from the estate. This allows them to complement their wine list. In 2002, the estate expanded again with the construction of a storage cellar under the estate's courtyard. It is customary to say that "in this estate, each generation has built its cellar." Although Bernard is officially retired today, he remains very present alongside his wife and daughter Sabine, who joined them in 2003.
