Description
Macallan Red Collection 40 Years Old is a masterpiece in the series of premium whiskies launched by Macallan in 2020, symbolizing the brand's profound respect for time, tradition and craftsmanship. This series is themed around "red", paying tribute to the founder of Macallan, Alexander Reid (where Reid means "red hair" in Scottish), as well as the tradition of using red color to represent rare vintages in the brand's history. This 40-year-old whisky was carefully aged in oak barrels by Macallan's chief distiller, Kirsteen Campbell. The liquid is golden bronze in color, with natural color and complex aroma. The aroma combines ripe fruits, vanilla, oak and subtle spice notes; the taste is rich, with distinct layers, and the aftertaste is long and elegant. The outer box is handcrafted from European sustainable oak, and the inner lining is made of Scottish eco-friendly soft leather, reflecting Macallan's commitment to sustainability. Macallan Red Collection 40 Years Old is not only a top-class whisky, but also a timeless masterpiece about time and craftsmanship, favored by collectors and connoisseurs.
About the Producer
The Macallan was among the first distillers in Scotland to receive a legal license, establishing itself as one of the world’s premier single malt whiskies. Its creation is influenced by the natural raw materials from Spain, North America, and Scotland, all harmoniously blended with traditional methods and craftsmanship. Founded by Alexander Reid, a barley farmer and school teacher, The Macallan distillery is rooted in history. The original name of the area, “Maghellan,” derives from the Gaelic word “magh,” meaning fertile ground, and “Ellan,” referring to the monk St. Fillan, who had a close connection to the church that stood on The Macallan Estate until 1400. For centuries, local farmers had been producing whisky from their surplus barley during the quieter winter months.
