(tasted from a single 350-liter barrel): Flamboyant nose offers hints of petrol, Islay scotch and vineyard peach, plus a high-toned whiff of banana. Large-scaled, thick, salty and dry; if the Chevalier is like spring water, this one is like a river rock in your mouth. But utterly smooth and seamless, not heavy, offering noteworthy lift to its flavors of pear and magnolia. Not particularly closed today but I can easily imagine it shutting down in bottle for many years. Only time will tell if this wine will develop the class and palate-staining length of the Chevalier.

Mind-blowing aromas of dried apples and dried mushrooms with hints of peat. Sicilian lemons, too. Full-bodied, dense and powerful. Yet, dry and vivid with a sense of muscle and dryness. Very tensioned and formed. Drink or hold. It’s a white for decades ahead.

About the Producer

Domaine Lucien Le Moine is a small-scale, boutique winery based in Burgundy, France. It was established in 1999 by Mounir and Rotem Saouma, who named the estate after their son, Lucien. The winery is known for its meticulous approach to winemaking, focusing on producing limited quantities of high-quality wines. The philosophy behind Domaine Lucien Le Moine revolves around the concept of "micro-negotiant." Rather than owning their own vineyards, Mounir and Rotem carefully select grapes from trusted growers across various appellations in Burgundy. This allows them to have control over every aspect of the winemaking process, from vineyard management to the final bottling. The winery's production is extremely limited, with a focus on premier cru and grand cru vineyards.
