The NV Cuvée Rosé Brut is 100% Pinot Noir based on 2008 (90%). The color is an intense orange-colored pink and the nose offers beautifully subtle, but also deep, intense flavors of ripe and macerated Pinot Noir and lemon. There is also great purity and finesse on the structured palate. The finish is fresh and reveals a perfect fruit. This Rosé drinks almost like a light red wine.

The NV Brut Cuvée Rosé is a fairly anonymous Champagne with a soft, pleasing personality. The wine is best enjoyed sooner rather than later. This is lot # L23PX103248. Disgorged April 2011.

(100% saignée Pinot Noir): Vivid orange-pink. An expressive, spice-accented bouquet evokes fresh raspberry, orange pith, white flowers and ginger, with a hint of rhubarb adding an earthy flourish. Sappy and broad in the mouth, offering intense red fruit and bitter citrus flavors underscored by chalky mineral and white pepper notes. Rich yet lively rosé with excellent closing thrust and floral persistence.

(all pinot noir; L23PZ 110143): Bright orange-pink. Toasty strawberry and raspberry aromas are accented by iodine, floral oils and dusty minerals. Broad and supple in texture, with sappy red berry and blood orange flavors supported by a firm spine of minerality. Finishes spicy, silky and long, with a late rose pastille note adding an exotic twist.

(100% pinot noir; L23PY106250): Bright orange-pink. Powerful aromas of raspberry, rhubarb, fresh flowers and Asian spices, with a toasty element in the background. Intense red fruit flavors are braced by tangy acidity and pick up notes of anise and toasty lees with air. Bright and racy on the finish, which shows excellent clarity and persistence.

(made entirely from pinot noir; L23PX102820): Bright orange-pink. Suave, highly perfumed aromas of strawberry, cherry, potpourri and musky herbs, with a mineral overtone. Juicy, focused, refreshingly bitter red fruit flavors are complemented by a note of toasty lees. Closes with lingering spiciness, very good precision and a persistent note of juicy red berries.

Deep orange-pink color, with a fine bead. Ripe cherry and redcurrant on the nose, with darker earth, tobacco and herb accents. Rich, full and deep, with a spike of acidity on the back giving lift and nerve to the sweet cherry and red berry flavors. Finishes firm, with good breadth as well as length to the sweet red fruit flavors. A serious style of rose, with the weight and depth to work with hearty foods, even red meats.

(lot #23R282331 on the bottle) Light copper-tinged pink. Spicy red berries and cherry on the nose, with suggestions of cinnamon, clove and nutmeg, plus an underlying buttery, brioche quality. Rich, dense and full, but brightened by lively citrus flavors wrapped up in strawberry and raspberry. This is really complex. The long, toasty, buttery finish is lifted by crisp acidity, which provides terrific focus.

About the Producer

Laurent-Perrier was founded in 1812 by André Michel but it was his cellar master Eugene Laurent, who ran it with his wife, Mathilde Emilie Perrier. After Eugene's death in 1887, Mathilde combined the 2 names and Laurent-Perrier was born. Post First World War I, Laurent-Perrier was very sucessful producing around 50,000 cases of Champagne unfortunatley when war broke out the business was hit hard. Mathilde hired Alexander Fletcher Keith Mackenzie to introduce and market Laurent-Perrier in the UK. In 1925 Mathilde died leaving the company to her daughter Eugenie. With another war looking likely Eugenie sold the company in 1939 to Mary-Louise Lanson de Nonancourt In 1948 it was Mary-Louise's son Bernard who took over the reigns becoming Laurent-Perrier's Chairman and Chief Executive, he remained and important part of the buiness until his death in 2010.
