Tasting notes

The 2012 Barbaresco Vigneto Gallina is beautifully lifted and precise in the glass, with plenty of sweet red berry, rose petal, mint and spice notes. This is a distinctly lifted, feminine Barbaresco from La Spinetta. The wine's mid-weight structure suggests it is best enjoyed on the young side, but I have seen these wines surprise quite a bit with time in bottle.

Crazy aromas of Indian spices and fresh herbs with an undertone of ripe plums. Full body, round tannins and rich, delicious palate. Shows so much beauty and length. Needs two ro three years to soften, but already decadent and seductive.

Since then it is the second generation, spearheaded by Giorgio Rivetti, that has put La Spinetta on the map with the development of vineyards and estates, talented winemaking and an endless desire to try new things.
