About the Producer
Domaine La Décelle is located in the Enclave des Papes, south of Valréas, and is known for its unique climate conditions that foster the production of structured and complex wines. Purchased by Benoît and Frédéric Lavau in 2010, the estate spans 82 hectares with diverse altitudes and soil types, including clay-chalk and sandy soils. The vineyard primarily cultivates Grenache Noir, Syrah, Carignan, Viognier, and Marsanne at elevations up to 320 meters, benefiting from cooler temperatures and significant day-night temperature variations that enhance grape ripening and tannin development. One notable plot, a perfect square of Syrah and Grenache on a south-facing slope, produces the cuvée Le Carré, recognized as one of the estate's finest wines. The vineyard practices reasoned agriculture, ensuring high-quality AOC Côtes du Rhône Village Valréas wines with limited yields and uniform grape bunches.
