There are 12 barrels of the 2020 Meursault 1er Cru Poruzot, a medium to full-bodied, layered and seamless wine evocative of pear, crisp green apple and white currants mingled with iodine and bread dough. Concentrated and incisive, it concludes with a penetrating finish, exhibiting more tension than the fleshy, enveloping 2019 but with just as much depth and substance.

About the Producer

The Morey family has a long history of winemaking in the village of Meursault, dating back to 1793, making them the oldest winemaking family in the village. The Jobard family, on the other hand, arrived in Meursault in 1860 and also holds a significant position in the village's winemaking industry. Shortly after the end of World War II, Emile Jobard, the grandfather of the current owner Valentin Jobard, married the sister of the renowned winemaker Bernard Morey, leading to the establishment of Domaine Emile Jobard-Morey in 1949. After the death of the senior owner in 1980, the estate was taken over by Rémy Ehret, his son-in-law. After 36 years of management by Rémy, the winery was handed over to his nephew Valentin Jobard. Under Valentin's leadership, the winery has indeed seen significant improvements. It has transitioned to organic farming methods, with Valentin personally using a hoe to plow the fields and intentionally pruning the vines to control yields and enhance quality. The grapes are pressed with stems for over three hours to preserve the purest and most natural flavors. Although Valentin has only been in charge for a short time, he has already attracted the attention of many international wine critics who have high expectations for Jobard-Morey and anticipate great achievements for both families. Wine critic William Kelley of The Wine Advocate even describes Domaine Jobard-Morey as the most underrated winery in Meursault, stating that their wines deserve more attention. For wine enthusiasts, now is an excellent time to start collecting their wines as their future prospects are highly promising.
