Tasting notes

Reviewed by: Neal Martin
The 2014 Chablis 1er Cru Vau de Vey was rather reduced on the nose when I tasted it, so it needs a couple of years in bottle. The palate is showing commendable weight and acidity, a pleasant edgy citric note but perhaps it needs to muster more weight on the finish. Let's see how it evolves.

It was difficult to assess the 2014 Chablis 1Er Cru Vau de Vey last year due to some reduction. Now in bottle, it has a clean and precise bouquet with scents of lime flower and a touch of sea spray, the SO2 nicely in check. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity, a pleasant twist of sour lemon lending tension, clean and precise, even if it remains quite linear and conservative on the finish. Enjoy this Vau de Vey over the next 3-5 years.
About the Producer
Jean-Marc Brocard's land began with 1 hectare of vineyards, which his father-in-law grew and made as a wedding present. In 1973, Jean-Marc Brocard chose to settle in Préhy and set up his own Domaine in the middle of the vineyards. recognition. In the mid-1990s, his son Julien Brocard returned to the family estate after graduating with a degree in engineering and started organic and biodynamic farming. Jean-Marc Brocard was also one of the first representatives of organic farming in Bourgogne. The vineyard uses low-impact methods - instead of herbicides, predators (spiders, finches, etc.) instead of pesticides, compost instead of chemical fertilisers, and small amounts of spraying according to the health requirements of the grapes - paired with a philosophy of undisturbed winemaking. Jean-Marc Brocard's wines are unpretentious and pure Chablis.
