Saturated purple in color, the exceptional 1998 Cornas La Louvee is concentrated and full-bodied, with high levels of sweet tannin. While youthful and in need of cellaring, it reveals multiple flavor dimensions (blackberries and cassis) in addition to 15 years of ageability. Anticipated maturity: 2002-2018. Importer: Premiere Wine Merchants, New York, NY; tel. (212) 399-4200

NOTE: This wine is from the estate vineyard of Ann and Jean-Luc Colombo. The 1998 Cornas La Louvee is a prodigious effort. A black/purple color is accompanied by a sweet nose of minerals, roasted nuts, scorched earth, black currants, and berry fruit. This full-bodied, fleshy, impressively-endowed effort offers sweet tannin as well as low acidity. Anticipated maturity: 2002-2016. Importer: Premiere Wine Merchants, New York, NY; tel. Deep ruby-red. Very ripe aromas of raspberry, cherry, violet and game. Dense, ripe and sweet, with fruit currently overshadowed by its strong oak component. Finishes with firm but suave tannins and very good length. This is very attractive red wine, but I'm not sure I would identify it blind as Cornas.

About the Producer

Jean Luc is famous for his wine, and he is also known for his friendliness, generosity, and warm hospitality. When Jean Luc travels around the world to promote their wines, Lauren oversees the winery and business development. Owning three vineyards Wine from the North Rhone Valley is brewed and aged in the cellar located in Kornas. This small name only covers 150 hectares (a total area of approximately 370 acres), with steep lace terraces overlooking the Rhone River. Located in Aldesh Province, just south of Kolnas in the west of Valence, San Pere is the southernmost end of the North Rhone River and is affected by the climate of two regions (Mediterranean and continental climate). For a long time, this term has been overlooked and is now being reborn. Their wines (all white wines) are charming due to their floral quality, minerals, consistent texture, and long classic finishes. Jean Luc wants to return to his Provence origins in the early 21st century. Near Marseille Bay, in the limestone mountains facing the Mediterranean, Jean Luc purchased land from various homeowners, which allowed him to create a new vineyard and planted it in 2009. This vineyard is located in an area called "Vallon de Champs Fleuri" in the middle of a pine forest. On a piece of land near Jean Luc's birthplace, there are cypress and olive trees (commonly known as the Blue Coast - a coast extending west from Marseille along the Mediterranean Sea).
