The 2022 Meursault Les Vignes de Marguerite comes from the mid-slope of Les Luchets and Les Chevaliers; the vines around 80 years old. It is perhaps the most primal of all Buisson's cuvées at the moment, certainly the most leesy. The palate is a little reductive on the entry, yet there is fine tension and vibrancy, quite steely in style, rending it rather Puligny-like. It will require two or three years in bottle, but it will be worth the wait because it shimmers with freshness and nascent vitality.
About the Producer
The Henri & Gilles Buisson estate, certified organic since 2009, now works its entire vineyard in biodynamic farming. This approach reflects the family's deeply held values of protecting the ecosystem, respecting the environment, and preserving the individual character and uniqueness of each terroir, allowing it to express itself in each of their wines. The Buisson family name is intimately linked to the fate of Saint-Romain, a wine village since its origins. For as long as anyone can remember, they have always worked in the vineyards since 1758. Henri Buisson, a true pioneer, bought 5 hectares of vines, and thus wrote the first page of the family's destiny by establishing himself as an independent winemaker in 1947, when Saint-Romain was granted AOC status. The "Henri et Gilles Buisson" estate has maintained this independence and freedom by practicing a wine culture that is faithful to its deeply held values. Gilles, Henri's son, and his wife Monica have continued the story in their own way. They expanded the vineyard to 14 hectares in 2000, created a new winery from scratch, and invested in viticultural equipment. They pass on to their children a powerful tool that will allow the two brothers to express themselves. Franck and Frédérick Buisson, Gilles' sons and Henri's grandsons, took over the reins in 2008, inheriting a passion for wine and their terroir. They love this land and intend to tell its story through their bottles, make it known throughout the world, and above all, respect it. Henri Buisson was already following the "organic" trends of his time in the 1960s and 1970s. Today, the two brothers cultivate a vineyard of almost 20 hectares, certified "organic" since 2009, and have worked it entirely in biodynamic farming since that year. By placing scientific innovation at the heart of their concerns while respecting the natural rhythms of nature, Franck and Frédérick are making their family estate an essential part of progress. During vinification, each wine is tasted daily for highly personalized monitoring. Through their different appellations, Franck and Frédérick create a mosaic of unique flavors. Each of their wines is the faithful reflection of the terroir where it was born. Their pride is to produce wines they love, which speak of their terroir, and which, with their originality, appeal to a variety of palates and find an audience worldwide. Today, the Henri&Gilles Buisson estate exports to about twenty countries and intends to continue spreading the reputation of the Burgundy vineyard's terroirs far and wide.
