About the Producer

Over 200 years ago, the ancestors of the family lived as grape growers in Foster. Richard Mosbacher Sr. (1898-1977) co-founded the winery with his sisters in 1921 and named it "Weingut Georg Mosbacher Erben" after his father. The curved "M" that adorns wine labels to this day also dates back to earlier years. Richard Mosbach Jr. has taken over responsibility for the wine cellar since his father Richard was named mayor by the Americans after the war. In the 1970s, 80s and 90s, Richard Mosbacher led the winery to fame. His daughter and her husband Jürgen Düringer have supported his business since 1992. After a joint quality effort, the company was included in the VDP in 1993. Meanwhile, management is in the hands of Sabine Mosbacher-Düringer and her husband Jürgen. The company can be expanded, with 22 hectares currently planted, and the winery's reputation as one of the top companies in the Palatinate can be consolidated and expanded. Since the founding of the Georg Mosbacher winery, the most important principle has not changed: the pursuit of the highest quality in harmony with nature. The vineyard has been grown according to organic farming guidelines since 2012. The winery has been certified by the European Union. The foundation of high-quality wine is in the vineyard, so wineries are limiting production by reducing spring production. Intensive foliage work, summer thinning and selective hand harvesting allow for an optimal harvest. The gentle expansion of the cellars preserves the typical character of the terroir that bestows on our grapes.
