I just love the 2013 Barolo by Fratelli Alessandria. The wine is tame and subtle yet powerful at the same time. It starts off with classic aromas of wild berry, smoke, tar and licorice. Those tones build in momentum to show more intensity and volume as the minutes pass. This Barolo wraps thickly over the palate, imparting structure, firmness and density.

Fratelli Alessandria's 2013 Barolo is fabulous. Scents of orange peel, cardamom, dried flowers, mint and dried cherries give the 2013 a decidedly exotic flavor profile that will only gain in sweetness and perfume as the wine ages. Mid-weight structure gives the wine considerable appeal, but readers who can cellar the 2013 will be in for a treat. Alessandria's straight Barolo remains one of the most fairly priced wines in all of Piedmont. Don't miss it.

Fratelli Alessandria is a leading wine producer in the Piedmont region of Italy. This winery was founded in 1870 and is located in the Borgonovo region of the Langhe Mountains. Fratelli Alessandria is owned and managed by the Alessandria family. They have inherited many generations of winemaking skills and a love of fine wine.
