About the Producer
Sancerre from François Cotat is renowned as some of the most singular Sauvignon Blanc in the world. Wine enthusiasts often describe the experience of tasting Cotat's wines as a blend of meticulous winemaking and a touch of magic. These wines are atypical yet captivating in their complexity, deserving of aging for decades. The Cotat family has been cultivating both Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir on the slopes of the legendary Monts Damnés in Chavignol since the end of World War II. It was not until the 1990s that the two Cotat brothers, Paul and Francis, passed the family domaine to their sons, François and Pascal, respectively. Currently, there are two wineries: one in Chavignol, led by François Cotat, and another in Sancerre, managed by Pascal Cotat. Despite the separation, both cousins focus on crafting exceptional wines from older Sauvignon Blanc vines situated in Chavignol's most esteemed vineyards.
