Tasting notes

Reviewed by: Neal Martin
The 2020 Puligny-Montrachet Les Combettes 1er Cru is nuanced on the nose, with wet limestone and light orchard fruit scents. It's well-defined and gains intensity with aeration paralleled with a spicy tincture. The complexity really manifests with aeration. The palate is nicely balanced with a fine bead of acidity, tensile and fresh. A dash of white pepper (a leitmotif of these Combettes) defines the intense finish. This wine wants to make a statement and does that with authority. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.
