About the Producer
Domaine Laurent Père et Fils is negociant-éleveur the Côte de Nuits by the late '80s, when Dominique Laurent decides to leave his job as pastry chef and open a small wine "négoce" in the beautiful town of Nuits-Saint-Georges. With his manic quality research work, he donated to the category of éleveur ( "refiners", ie those who are not wine growers, but the must buy from other winemakers, and then bottle with its label) a great value connotation. His philosophy is to choose only very old vines with very low yields, from different plots of the entire Cote d'Or and a small part of the Côte Chalonnaise. Dominique works closely with winemakers who chooses, during the whole year, leaving to them the task of dealing Fermentation: in fact Dominique rule takes the must already fermented and only in some cases takes charge of winemaking. Human intervention is reduced to the bone, also it uses 100% new wood for its Grands Crus and is bottled by hand and without filtration. Believing fully in the wooden fermentation, Dominique has also decided to directly fabricate the plays, which has dubbed "magic casque": select trees of about 300 years of the Tronçais forest, then following a careful manufacturing process. A small part of these pièces is sold to industry giants, such as Domaine de la Romanée Conti, Zind Humbrecht, and Pingus. All this meticulous and careful path, from the vineyard to the cellar, offering wines of great depth, since dall'appellazione base, generous in aromas and concentrated in structure. Today Dominique is joined by his son Jean, and the bottles produced covering nearly all the names and classifications of the Côte d'Or. Finally he collaborates with the fashion house known Egly-Ouriet and 90, together with Michel Tardieu, manages the Domaine Tardieu Laurent in the Luberon, which elaborates wines from the most prestigious appellations of the Rhone Valley (Côte Rôtie, Hermitage, Cornas, Châteauneuf-du- Pape), applying the Burgundian philosophy.
