Tasting notes

Reviewed by: Neal Martin
Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. The Pommard 1er Cru Les Rugiens ‘11 has a lively bouquet with crisp Morello cherry, wild strawberry and mineral scents on the nose that gains vigor with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly chewy tannins. There is an impressive weight here, plenty of extraction while maintaining focus and detail, although it needs another two or three years in bottle to develop more personality.
