The 2023 Musigny Grand Cru comes from Faiveley's 0.14 hectares of vine. It is matured with 50% whole bunch entirely in new oak. This was just about to be bottled to mitigate the influence of the wood. That was a wise decision because the oak is shaping the aromatics at the moment, though there is plenty of attractive red fruit underneath. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant, quite saturated tannins and blood orange infusing the red fruit with a vanillary finish. It has good potential.

The 2023 Musigny Grand Cru is lovely, unwinding in the glass with aromas of dark berries, orange rind and rose petals, along with a framing of minty new oak that will integrate with a second winter. Full-bodied, supple and suave, it's deep and complete, with a cool core of fruit, beautifully refined tannins and a long, perfumed finish. As usual, anecdotal volumes mean that it won't be an easy wine to find.
