About the Producer
The Serine River flows through Chablis, aptly named for its serene and placid waters, reflecting the tranquil vineyards and sleepy villages lining its banks. However, a new generation of growers is revitalizing this cool northern corner of Burgundy for the better. Romain and Damien Bouchard founded their winemaking estate, Domaine de L’Enclos, in 2016. They are the fourth generation of their family to work the classic Kimmeridgian soils of Chablis. Historically, the family has supplied exceptional Chardonnay fruit to other winemakers, drawn from their impressive grand cru and premier cru vineyards, all carefully cultivated by family hands. Today, with their vines in prime condition, the brothers are committed to crafting Chablis wines from living soils and healthy grapes. They follow “simple and natural” methods, emphasizing observation and patience. Identifying as "perfectionists," they aim to elevate the standards for character-driven Chablis wines. La Revue du Vin de France describes Domaine de L’Enclos as “a sure value in the appellation,” but the wines exceed this label. Organically raised and thrillingly expressive, they showcase what clear vision and native talent can achieve, especially in a changing climate. These Chablis wines are both energetic and refined, offering stellar quality at impressive value.
