Tasting notes

The 2020 Pur Sang is a compact and focused style with excellent concentration. It is as pure as glacial water. While tender and charming at first, it offers excellent precision, which is not a word you'd normally associate with the warm 2020 season. There is fine tension and structure with an integrated use of nutty oak combining with a fresh nectarine fragrance on the finish. Tasted as a tank sample, this is a 3-ha vineyard that's about 5km away from Dagueneau HQ, sitting on flint over a bedrock of chalk.

A restrained and minerally wine with flint, tuberose and mint aromas, plus multilayered citrus fruit and pistachio toastiness. Full-bodied with weight and an elegant, silky texture. Slightly toasty and a bit buttery, with a super-polished and woven finish that’s incredibly savory. From biodynamically grown grapes. Still youthful due to the oak, yet ready to drink.
About the Producer
Domaine Didier Dagueneau is based in the small village of Saint-Andelain in the heart of the Pouilly-Fumé appellation and is the source of some of the most singular wines of the world. The vineyards are farmed using biodynamic methods and yields are kept extremely low. On average, one worker per hectare is employed to care for the vines throughout the year. The soils are tilled, sometimes using horses, to encourage roots to grow deep in their underlying terroirs. When vines need to be replanted, there is extreme care to select only low-vigor rootstock and the best massal selection cuttings to graft. When the time is right, the harvest is carried manually throughout the vineyards.
