Antique pink in color and showing fine bubbles, the NV Deutz Brut Rosé (Lot LA114D03414) offers a very clear and subtle bouquet of red berries, candied cherries, plums and pomegranate. Medium to full-bodied, firm and very elegant on the palate, this Champagne combines its serious character with great delicacy and fruit finesse. Made from Pinot Noir grands crus from the Montagne de Reims with a small portion of Chardonnay, the wine gets its unique color of blending in about 8% of red wine produced from old Deutz vines on the hill of Aÿ, particularly from a plot known as “Meurtet.”

The NV Brut Rose is fabulous. A sweet, open bouquet leads to expressive fruit in this rich, textured wine. The Deutz Rose is a serious wine that can be enjoyed as an aperitif, but it also has more than enough power in reserve to drink well at the dinner table. Floral notes reappear to round out the finish. The blend is 75% Pinot Noir and 25% Chardonnay. This is Lot LA111D31410. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2015. The NV Brut Rose showcases the classic Deutz style in a soft, approachable fruit. Mint, flowers and crushed berries are some of the nuances that flow from this delicate, mineral-laced rose. It’s hard not to fall for this delicious wine. The NV Brut Rose is 100% Pinot Noir, of which 8% is still Pinot. This is Lot: LA111D14010, disgorged May, 2010, Anticipated maturity: 2010-2015. (made from a blend of 75% pinot noir and 25% chardonnay; LA113D03212): Bright orange-pink. Musky, floral-accented aromas of cherry and black raspberry, with a hint of graphite coming up with air. Dry but fleshy, offering bitter cherry and dark berry flavors and a touch of orange zest. Finishes firm and dry, with good grip and a lingering floral note.
