Tasting notes

De Fieuzal's 2018 Blanc bursts with tropical fruit notions of green guava, fresh pineapple and mango, followed by nuances of yuzu zest, lime leaves and jasmine. The medium-bodied palate delivers fantastic freshness and intensity with loads of citrusy layers, delivered with lovely harmony, finishing on a lingering pineapple note.

The de Fieuzal 2018 Blanc bursts from the glass with gregarious green mango, guava and fresh limes scents followed by green apples and pineapple plus a waft of honeysuckle. Medium-bodied, the palate is packed with topical and citrus layers, with a satiny texture and bold freshness, finishing savory.

The 2018 Fieuzal Blanc is nicely done. Lemon confit, almond, chamomile and dried flowers fill out the layers nicely. There is enough energy to support at least a few years in the cellar, but it would be nice to see more depth and complexity.

Just as I commented from barrel, the 2018 Château de Fieuzal Blanc has a pleasant green apple and pear nose, but what it really lacks is vigor. The palate is well balanced with a citrus opening and notes of white peach and clementine. Nicely focused, with a tang of marmalade and ginger toward the finish. I just wish the aromatics would pull up their bootstraps.

The 2018 de Fieuzal Blanc has a clean bouquet with light citrus and green apple scents, although I would have liked more vigour. The palate is well balanced but simple, with primal grapefruit notes and a touch of spiciness on the finish.
About the Producer
Chateau de Fieuzal is located in the Pessac-Leognan appellation of Graves, Bordeaux, and is one of the 16 Grand Cru Classés of Graves. Today, Château Fauzelle's vineyard covers 85 hectares on the gentle slopes of Pessac-Léognan, one of the most privileged plots of land in the appellation. The terroir of the vineyard is treasured by Château Fauzelle, and in order to protect the microbiological system and biodiversity of the vineyard, organic and ecological practices are practised in the vineyard, such as the planting of flowers, beehives and vegetable gardens around the plots. This type of farming reduces pests and diseases and also provides green manure for the vines. In terms of winemaking, only grapes that have reached optimum ripeness are used to make wine. In the winery, fermentations are carried out in fermenting vessels of different sizes for the different varieties of grapes from different plots, so that the characteristics of the fruit can be fully expressed in the wine. Thanks to these measures, the wines retain the original characteristics of the grapes intact and thus faithfully express the excellent terroir of Pessac-Léognan. The wines of Château Fauzelle are of the highest quality, with aromatic and spirited red wines and elegant white wines, often scoring 90 points or more from leading wine critics and wine assessment agencies.
