The nose seems a little synthetic and plastic to me. This is a lighter style Clos du Marquis unlike decadent other vintages. Nice toasty vanillary mid-palate, moderate tannins but again lacks a little depth. A good but not great wine. Tasted April 2003.

Tasted blind at Farr's 2002 Bordeaux tasting. A much more lifted, decadent nose (for a 2002) with blackcurrant, raspberry leaf, warm bricks and earth. The palate is ripe and fleshy, sweet and flattering with raspberry, strawberry and loganberry. Very fine tannins towards the finish. Very polished but just lacks a little personality. Tasted October 2009.

This relatively austere but pleasant second wine achieved 13.3% natural alcohol. It is attractive, medium-bodied, and ideal for drinking over the next 7-8 years.
