Assembled from barrels of Lancement that don't make the cut for that lieu-dit bottling, plus some Chavaroche, the 2017 Cote Rotie La Chavarine is rather light in color, with delicate notes of cherries, herbs and tea leaves. Medium-bodied and silky, it lacks the concentration and intensity of the other Chambeyron bottlings but will make for charming drinking over the next 7-8 years.

Lurid ruby. Ripe black and blue fruits, cola, olive and a suave floral quality on the deeply perfumed nose; a spicy element adds complexity and lift. Plush blackberry, cherry compote and spicecake flavors display very good clarity and turn sweeter with air. The supple, persistent finish shows sharp detail, and pliant tannins fold quickly into lingering dark fruit preserve notes.
About the Producer
The Chambeyron Domaine father to son since Chambeyron owner Jean-Marie in 1895. In 1978, Christophe and his son Maurice has started to plant vines in the Côtes du Rhône. In 1985 the first vineyards in Condrieu and Côte-Rôtie were planted by Bernard. Pascale his wife joined the operation to greet guests in the cellar. Since 2010, Mathieu has joined the family estate with the project to restore a hillside in Côte-Rôtie appellation on the locality Chavaroche located in Ampuis. The Chambeyron Estate owns 5 hectares of vines spread over the following different names: - Côte Rôtie in the town of Ampuis, - Condrieu, in the municipality of Condrieu - Côtes du Rhône Wine country Viognier and Syrah on the heights of Ampuis
