Fleshy and generous, the 2019 Meursault 1er Cru Les Charmes exhibits aromas of pear, yellow orchard fruit, toasted almonds and freshly baked bread. Medium to full-bodied, lively and charming, with chalky structuring extract and lively acids, it has turned out well.
About the Producer
Domaine Bitouzet-Prieur is located in the wine-producing village of Volnay in the Cote de Beaune appellation of Burgundy, France, and is a boutique winery within the appellation. The vineyards are spread over three villages in the Cote de Beaune. In addition to the 7 hectares of vineyards that Vincent's family has inherited for generations in Volnay, they include 3 hectares of vineyards in Meursault and 1 hectare in Bern, which he inherited after his marriage. The vineyards are planted with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay varieties. The soil is well drained and rich in limestone, which ensures that the vines receive sufficient nutrients. In addition, the vines are planted on a south-east facing slope, which helps to accumulate heat and allow the grapes to ripen fully. The wines produced at the Bituze Prieur winery are mainly Pinot Noir red and Chardonnay white. The white wines are made at the Prieur family's winery in the village of Meursault and the red wines are made at the winery in the village of Volnay. The white wines are vinified in new oak barrels, resulting in wines with soft tannins and a smooth texture. The red wines have a typical red fruit flavour with floral notes of violets.
