About the Producer
Domaine Berthelemot Brigitte is located in the wine-producing village of Meursault in the Cote de Beaune region of Burgundy, France. It is a family-run boutique winery in the village. . The history of Brigitte Winery dates back hundreds of years, with its predecessors as Jean Garaudet Estate and Yves Darviot Estate. In 2006, Berthelemot Delorme bought the two wineries and established a new winery under his own name. In addition, Brigitte hired Marc Cugney as winery manager and winemaker at the winery. Thanks to the joint efforts of Brigitte and Mark, the business of the winery is booming and won several awards. Brigitte Winery first owned several vineyards in Beaune, Pommard, Monthelie and Meursault, mainly planting Pinot Noir. In order to expand the wine category of the winery, after 2012, the winery has purchased several more famous white wine producing areas such as Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet. Vineyards, mainly Chardonnay and Aligote. The vines in these vineyards are relatively old and, therefore, their yields are relatively low. In addition, every spring, the winery employs people to prune the number of buds, further controlling the yield of the grapes and improving the quality of the grapes at harvest. Brigitte Winery uses manual methods to harvest grapes, and the grapes will be screened twice to remove immature and rotten grapes to ensure the quality of the grapes used for winemaking. When the winery makes red wine, the grapes are partially destemmed, crushed and then fermented in a fermentation tank. The fermentation tanks at Brigitte Winery have a "double wall" structure, in which the middle layer can be filled with hot or cold water to adjust the fermentation temperature. When red wine is fermented at the beginning, workers will control the temperature at 12 degrees Celsius for cold maceration, which lasts about 5-8 days. Subsequently, the wine needs to undergo alcoholic fermentation for 10-12 days. Winemakers taste fermenting wines every day to make sure that the tannins and flavors in the grape skins are fully extracted. After fermentation, the wine will be aged in oak barrels. When brewing white wine, the winery needs to be pressed first, and then transferred to the fermentation tank for fermentation. After fermentation, the wine will also be transferred to oak barrels for aging, and malolactic fermentation will also be carried out during the aging process. The wine produced by the winery will go through a proper filtration process before bottling to ensure the clarity of the wine. At present, Brigitte Winery has released more than 15 wines, including a variety of first-class wines, village wines and regional wines. The wines produced by the winery have won many awards in wine competitions, won the praise of many wine critics, and are also widely loved by consumers in the market.
