About the Producer
Located in the Champagne region of France, Champagne Bereche & Fils is a long-established, traditional Champagne winery. It was founded in 1847 by the Maison Family. In 2004, the fifth generation of the Maison Family inherited the winery, carrying on the winemaking tradition and techniques of their predecessors, maintaining quality and style. The vineyards or plots of Bereche & Fils Champagne are scattered throughout the Ludes Premier Cru and Ormes, on clay and sandy soils, planted mainly with Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier. The maximum age of the vines will not exceed 30 years. Once the vines have reached a certain stage of growth, the winemakers carefully prune and remove the leaves according to the conditions of the vines. The vineyard is managed with respect for the natural environment and care for the vines. In order to maintain the vitality of the soil, the winery insists on ploughing the land and returning the cut weeds to the vineyard to enrich the land. In addition, the vineyard is farmed by animals, whose manure is used instead of chemical fertilizers to make the vineyard organic. The winemaking team of 10 people at Bereche & Fils Champagne has not changed since the new owners took over, providing a solid guarantee of a consistent winemaking style. When the grapes are ripe, the winemakers taste and evaluate different samples of grapes before deciding on the time to pick them. With both oak barrels and stainless steel fermenters, the Champagne is slowly fermented in both types of fermenters, with the mash coming into contact with the wine, and the final product is aged for 12-84 months before being bottled at the winery.
