About the Producer
Astrolabe, located in New Zealand's Marlborough appellation, is a renowned local winery that has won many international awards for its wines. The grapes of Astrolabe come from 16 different regions, which reflect the different characteristics of each region. These 16 regions are located in several small appellations in Marlborough, including the Awatere Valley, Waihopai, Kekerengu Coast and Wairau Valley. Atrolabe Farm Vineyard, the Wagons' own vineyard, is located in the Wairau Valley on flat, rich alluvial soils with good drainage, planted mainly with Riesling, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. In 1997, the first vintage was made with Chardonnay from the estate. Although the winery owns its own vineyards, it also sources grapes from other vineyards in the region. Four important vineyards - Beacon Hill Vineyard, Taihoa Vineyard, Wrekin Vineyard and Sleepers Vineyard - provide the winery with quality grapes that reflect the local terroir. They all provide Astrolabe with grapes that reflect the local terroir. Today, Astrolabe produces a diverse range of wines, including Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling, Albarino and Chenin Blanc, which have won many world awards and are loved by consumers. The wines of this winery have not only won many world awards but are also very popular with consumers.
