The 2020 Meursault Clos du Murgers has a light chalky bouquet with fine delineation, although it needs a little more intensity. The palate is fresh, quite limey on the entry, clean and slightly tropical on the finish, an easy-drinking Meursault that perhaps just needs more terroir expression.

In his Encyclopedia of Wines and Spirits of All Countries, Alexis Lichine writes: “In Meursault les Perrières is the best vineyard plot and the wine from the heart of this cru, the Clos des Perrières, stands up to the incomparable Montrachet”. A remarkable wine that can be kept for a very long time, the Clos des Perrières is capable of outstanding evolution, which was demonstrated in 1999 by a vertical tasting from 1997 to 1895, covered by the magazine Bourgogne Aujourd’hui under the title Tout Près de l’Everest (Close to Everest). This exceptional development was confirmed again in 2019 at another tasting to celebrate the 140th anniversary of the estate.
